Sicilian motives August, 11th perhaps, the most unusual exhibition of this has been officially opened. The hero of the exhibition was Philippo Skimmenti, Sicilian artist with bright like no other style of painting. Philippo Skimment was born in June, 16th,1939 in Palermo suburb. Artist’s life was always connected to Sicily. He has got married here, three of his children was born here. Bright, unbrushed and temperamental Sicilian culture formed his style and philosophy. However, the artist could truly express himself in another Italian city Milan, where he moved due to financial problems. In the north of Italy, painting became his goal and base of life. He came back home in 1983 and continued his art studies and experiments with new strength. «Spectacular imagery», «informal style», «bright plastic» - that’s how critics and art dealers describe the artist. When one looks at his pictures, it reminds of Polok or Dubuffe material. And sometimes, one can see the traditional Sicilian motives like hung clothes after the washing. «At the first sight, it seems like Skimmenti art is just the abstraction but there are lots of realistic details in his pictures, too. Sometimes you see Picasso and other art masters of the past in his pictures. Sunshine, irony, humor, sincerity – you can see the deep soul of the artist in these pictures – Stanislav Auginyan, fine art expert said». Personal exhibition is open until September 4, free entrance. Exposition is presented by «Russian gallery on Vozdvizhenka»
