26.12.2011 Last Friday more than 300 specialists in the field of sports medicine gathered in Expo Center, Moscow, at the conference SPORTMED 2011 which was held in frames of one of the biggest healthcare fair in Eastern Europe “Zdravookhranenie”.
 
The second day of the conference was “Russian-german day of sports medicine” and the highly skilled representers of sports medicine from Germany and Russia made presented their reports and discussed past and coming international sports events. The conference was devoted to the organisation of sports medicine at the big events and to sharing experience among Russian and German experts.

The title of the conference “Organisation of sports medicine in view of Kazan 2013, Sochi 2014 und FIFA WM 2018“ as well as references to big international sports events raised vital interest to the Conference. In the beginning of the conference the chief doctor at the ski world championship in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011, Dr. Schaller, made a presentation on the complex and requiring organisation of medical care in a high mountainous area with more than 100 000 visitors. From the medical point of view the preparation for the Football World Championship in South Africa was also very complex - it was the subject of the report made by Dr. Schneider. The next winter Olympics are close, so Dr. Vykhodets told the audience about the preparations and tests for Sochi 2014.

The second part of the conference was devoted to the medical care for sportsmen. The doctors of national snowboard and bob teams, Dr. Kusche and Dr. Schneider, talked about the medical care before and during Olympic games. Some interesting aspects of medical care in the russian national swimming team and by the ski-runners were given by Dr. Lomaziva and Dr. Ilyukov. 

The third and the final part of the Conference was devoted to sports traumatology. Dr. Schaller and the chief traumatologist of FMBA Russia Prof. Arkhipov talked reported about the facilities of the modern surgery in sports traumatology. Prof. Duda from Charité Berlin presented his report on sportsmen’s biomechanics and the opportunities of functional diagnostics in prevention of sports traumas.

The opening speech was held by Dr von Pannwitz from University Clinic Charité, Berlin, then the conference was moderated by the Director of the Federal Center for Sports Medicine of FMBA Russia, Prof. Dr. Polyaev and Dr. Vykhodets who represented the department of sports medicine of the Government of Moscow City. At the end of the conference Dr. Walther a german moderator and a representer of the Russian-German Society for Sports Medicine concluded the success of the conference and assessed it as the first step in sharing scientific experience. All the participants have already defined the points for further cooperation between Russia and Germany and manifested their joy for the future cooperation.
